Technology Initiatives

Effective communication is essential to any well-run medical management program. To most effectively serve our business partners, MedSolutions has developed a web-based data exchange with patients, physicians, providers, and customers.

The first phase of MedSolutions' B2B exchange initiative, MedSolutions Online, was launched in 2000, as part of our continuing effort to maximize clinical effectiveness and ease the administrative burden for physicians and managed care clients. Our goal is to provide an online environment where MedSolutions' business partners (ePartners), including managed care clients, network providers, and patients are able to interact securely and electronically.

MedSolutions' infrastructure has a great deal of built-in flexibility, inherent to the company's technology choices. We intend to stay on the leading edge of these technology initiatives, providing a place where our managed care partners and physicians can immediately realize the advantages and efficiencies the Net promises.

MedSolutions Online is a broad-based, multi-phased endeavor. The extranet site provides the meeting place for information exchange between MedSolutions' ePartners – offering precert and claims status inquiry, online precert submission, online provider education initiatives, clinical guidelines, online physician profiling, and online custom reporting for our managed care clients.

MedSolutions provides a window directly into a plan's radiology environment whenever they need it, a level of information previously unavailable to healthplans.

Subsequent plans for the full exchange initiative include real time integration with ePartners' information systems (both physicians and managed care partners) and the expansion of the partner.medexchange.com site to a full portal. Real-time integration with MedSolutions' ePartners will result in the real-time healthcare management experience the Internet promises. Plans for the full portal initiative include more interactive collaboration with the provider community in the process of clinical decision making, teleradiology, and the development of radiology-focused online consumer communities. Scheduling capabilities are under development.

The Internet offers significant opportunities to increase the services we provide to our managed care clients and network providers. We look forward to increased productivity and heightened service levels as we move to a true business-to-business environment.
