September 1, 1998 Nashville, TN. – MedSolutions, Inc. today announced that Curtis J. "Curt" Thorne has been named President and Chief Operating Officer for MedSolutions, Inc. In his new position, Mr. Thorne will be responsible for all functions directly related to operation of MedSolutions’ business, including management of existing client relationships, development of new business and continued corporate infrastructure and information systems enhancement to support future growth. MedSolutions specializes in the management of radiology services for managed care organizations, large physician groups, independent physician associations, and other provider systems which offer comprehensive health benefits. "Curt brings an exceptional proven background in operations and business development to MedSolutions, as well as a clear understanding of virtually all aspects of managed care," said Frank Kyle, CEO of MedSolutions. "He is a great addition to our team, bringing skills, experience and contacts to MedSolutions which will add significant value in building our base of business." Thorne brings more than 12 years healthcare management experience to his new role. He most recently served as President and COO for Adesso Specialty Services Organization, a California-based specialty physician network organization that contracted with health plans under capitated agreements. Prior to joining Adesso, he built and managed successful pharmacy benefit management operations for Cigna, The Travelers and Aetna. In each of these companies, Thorne developed and operated technology and information-based programs and national account contract negotiations, experience that made him an attractive candidate for MedSolutions. While at Aetna, Thorne managed operations with revenues in excess of $900 million, where he doubled after tax profits in 2 years to over $30 million and lead the organization to be recognized nationally as outstanding in overall customer service ratings. Curt received a BS in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina and an MBA degree from the Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University. MedSolutions’ medical management techniques include the application of clinical guidelines in pre-certification of diagnostic imaging exams, physician profiling, privileging and assessment of radiology providers, and physician education programs aimed at helping physicians more appropriately utilize costly procedures.
