Prior
to coming to MedSolutions, Mr. Smith spent over 3 years with CIGNA in South Carolina as the assistant vice president, provider network management.
He was integral in the overall management of medical costs
through favorable provider contracting. Mr.
Smith also represented CIGNA on the national contracting team assisting
with the negotiation of national contracts and with the creation of national
contracting standards. Mr.
Smith’s initial position with Healthsource was as executive director of
Healthsource Physicians Group of South Carolina.
He was responsible for development and acquisition of physician
practices and the overall operational management of the Physician Practice
Management (PPM) subsidiary of Healthsource, Inc.
Prior to joining Healthsource, he served as vice president of development
for a PPM organization, Medical Resource Management, in Norcross, GA. Mr. Smith’s 15 year career began as a Certified Public Accountant with the firm of Ernst & Young in Philadelphia, PA. He served as the vice president, asset management for a life insurance company where he was responsible for the management of a $100 million portfolio of assets. He
graduated in 1985 with honors from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas
with a BBA in Accounting.
