Gregg P. Allen, M.D., is Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of MedSolutions. In this position, Dr. Allen is responsible for the design and implementation of medical management processes for MedSolutions. These duties include provider relations, clinical guideline development, utilization and quality management, and physician profiling and feedback. Dr. Allen also functions as the chief liaison with the radiology community, and the medical directors of MedSolutions. Prior to joining MedSolutions, Dr. Allen was Vice President for Medical Services and Corporate Medical Director of Coventry Corporation. Previously, he was the Physician in Charge of Network Operations at HealthAmerica, Inc., Coventry’s largest health plan, based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Allen began his medical management career in 1986 as the Medical Director for seven Humana MedFirst offices in Pittsburgh. Dr. Allen has also consulted for the Joint Commission (JCAHO) in the Ambulatory Care/Networks Program. A member of several significant health care company advisory boards including Practice Patterns Science and Pfizer Corporation, Dr. Allen is also the Section Editor on Managed Care for New Medicine. Dr. Allen is a residency-trained, board-certified Family Practice Physician and is also board certified in Emergency Medicine. He received his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and completed his Family Practice residency at the Wyoming Valley Family Practice Program in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. His certifications include diplomate of the American Board of Family Practice and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
