Frequently Asked Questions

How can I find out the extent of my radiology utilization and cost?
Your claims data will require in-depth analysis. We ask that you compile your radiology claims data over an extended period of time, say one or two years, to get an accurate picture of your utilization. For an explanation of this process, and to receive our data request form, please contact the regional new business development director for your region.

How do my radiology utilization and cost compare with other healthplans?
MedSolutions can show you how your data stacks up with your competitors. We have data collected from plans across the country, in your region, and often in your local market. Blind comparisons can reveal just how your radiology utilization and cost compare with these other healthplans.

What types of financing options are available?
MedSolutions offers 3 basic funding structures, including a full-risk capitation, risk share, and fee-for-service. Our Pricing section will give you more detail about each of these arrangements.

Can MedSolutions provide radiology management anywhere in the United States?
Yes, MedSolutions currently provides radiology management in several states across the country, and has contracted with providers at a national level to provide radiology services across the country.

What types of imaging studies have physicians actually ordered inappropriately?
MedSolutions receives requests regularly from physicians who aren't sure exactly which procedure to order, or how extensive the imaging should be. The goal is always to minimize patient exposure to that which is absolutely necessary. Each and every diagnostic imaging study should aid in diagnosis or alter patient treatment in some way.

With that in mind, consider a request for a full Sinus CT evaluation. In most instances when this study is requested by a Primary Care Physician, it is for the purpose of screening for significant sinus disease that may require referral to an ENT physician. Thus a limited CT Sinus, consisting primarily of Coronal views of the sinuses and most particularly of the ostiomeatal complex is the preferred study. In most instances, the limited exam is acceptable to the referring physician and this is the study that is authorized for initial evaluation of sinus disease.
